Real Team Tennis has two parts:

  • It is played on more than one court.
  • It allows fans to participate at any and all times!

The Rules of Tennis allow umpires to suspend play under Rule 30 (the
continuous play rule).  Umpires may use their discretion to suspend play when
necessitated by circumstances not within the control of the player.  Tennis
umpires interpret noise and movement within the stands such circumstanses.
Sports like basketball, baseball, football and hockey have a similar rule, but
consider noise and movement to be within the control of the player.  THESE
sports have shown that the best players CAN concentrate through noise and
movement.
REAL TEAM TENNIS believes noise and movement are
NOT beyond the control of the player and therefore NOT a hindrance to play
and NOT a reason to suspend play.

THEREFORE, Real Team Tennis umpires WILL:

  • allow spectators to become FANS!
  • allow FANS to jump around and cheer for thier team anytime they desire!
  • allow FANS to jump around and shout at their opponents anytime they desire!
  • NOT honor requests from players to still or quiest the crowd at any time!

REAL TEAM TENNIS players must accept the REAL
TEAM TENNIS
interpretation of Rule 30.
BUDDY TEAM FANS
If your team has not already
built a strong "fan base", then
join up with another team's
fan base to be "Buddies"!
When your "Buddy Team" is
playing, your team becomes
their "fans".  When your team
is playing, their  fans become
your "Buddy Team"!
